Over 200 children attend Crosby Skate Night
March 2, 2023
The Bank of Tioga was excited to sponsor a skate night, which included a $1,000 donation to Crosby Blue Line Club to be used towards new skates. These skates are used for open skate and for the Learn to Skate Program and are very much in need of new ones, as their old ones are getting worn out.
Crosby Blue Line Club’s annual Learn to Skate Program typically runs over four Wednesdays each February. The program started for anyone who has an interest in learning how to skate no matter a person’s age. The skate trainers are used during the Learn to Skate program as well as available to use during open skating hours throughout the week.
"Several years ago, our hockey program was gifted multiple pairs of second-hand skates from Minot’s hockey program," said Tonia Eriksmoen, Blue Line Club Secretary. "We appreciated the skates and they have served us well; however, many have come to the end of their lifespan and need to be replaced."
The Crosby Blue Line Club promotes hockey and the fundamentals of the game for the youth of Divide County and the surrounding area. The club wants to help each child improve his or her skating skills and hockey ability and emerge from the hockey experience possessing certain positive human values such as self-control, respect for others, cooperation, leadership and good sportsmanship.
"The Bank of Tioga’s donation of the funds to the Blue Line Club makes it possible for our club to purchase the necessary replacement skates so the many community members who attend our free open skate and learn to skate programs will have newer skates and more size options to choose from," added Eriksmoen. "We hand out between 15-60 pairs of skates to skaters ages 3-60 during these events, so having a wide variety is imperative. Thank you again!"
