Relax, Rejuvenate, Support Local: Spotlight on Tammy’s Mobile Massage
December 9, 2024
At The Bank of Tioga, we believe a community is as strong as its local businesses. That’s why our Eat, Shop, Bank Local blog series highlights the vibrant businesses of northwest North Dakota. This feature showcases Tammy’s Mobile Massage, owned by Tammy Knudson.
What’s the story behind the owner?
Tamra (Tammy) Knudson, owner of Tammy’s Mobile Massage, has lived in the Crosby community most of her life. About eight years ago, she decided to pursue her passion for massage therapy, returning to school to earn her Associate of Applied Science in Massage Therapy. In addition to running her own business, Tammy substitute teaches at two local schools, serves as vice-president of the hockey moms board for Crosby’s hockey club and has led the community’s Boy Scouts troop as head Scoutmaster for many years.
What can you tell us about Tammy’s Mobile Massage?
Tammy started Tammy’s Mobile Massage as a fully mobile service, bringing everything needed to clients’ homes or workplaces. In 2020, she expanded by renting a space on Crosby’s Main Street, where she’s been based ever since. Tammy is also licensed to practice in Montana and travels to Plentywood once a month to see clients there.
Tammy offers a range of massages tailored to individual needs, including full-body massages, on-site workplace sessions, and even water therapy through a local therapy pool. She has also received specialized training in Cranial Sacral Therapy, a technique that works with the client’s central nervous system using a gentle touch. This type of massage can provide lasting benefits for emotional and physical pain management, as well as muscle healing.
What advice would you give to others interested in starting their own business?
Tammy’s advice is simple: “Just start!” She believes if you wait for everything to be perfect, you may never take the plunge. From her experience, she’s learned that action brings wisdom, which can be incredibly powerful.
Where do you want to be in five years?
Tammy envisions a future of travel, as she’ll soon be an empty nester. She’s grateful for the flexibility of her business, allowing her to visit friends and family while continuing to work with clients on the go. While she’s excited about traveling, Crosby will always be her home base.
What influenced your decision to choose The Bank of Tioga for your business needs?
Tammy has been with The Bank of Tioga since its Farmers State Bank days. Her long-standing relationship with the bank made it the clear choice for her business needs.
Can you share a time when our team went above and beyond to help you?
Tammy has always received excellent support from Andrea Nygaard and Brittany Smithberg. Recently, Brittany has been particularly helpful, always going above and beyond to make Tammy feel valued, no matter what the question or request.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Tammy encourages anyone who can benefit from massage therapy to reach out to her anytime, as helping others is her primary motivation. She also offers gift certificates, which are a thoughtful gift for anyone who could benefit from massage therapy, especially with the holiday season upon us. Reach out to Tammy to purchase yours!
